Hope this thing is still alive.

We (Lisa, Justin, Miles, Hollis, Athalia-and-a-half, David, Coleman, Megan, Johnnie, Hudson, Kyla, and Than) just returned from a wonderful week of ice cream, kayaking, ice cream, Manana, ice cream, seals, ice cream, no luck fishing, and ice cream in both houses.

An online log through this venue seems like a winner to me, since, for instance, everybody gets to Monhegan this summer to read in the log that should they have by chance packed a sack of mortar to the island, they could apply it to fix the brick stairs above the little house. Looks like in this case Nicholas and Margaret will come to the rescue as they were unfortunate enough to respond to a phone ring on the day before their departure.

Embarrassed to say that I did nothing at all productive during my stay (except perhaps to participate in the first recorded sub-hour circumnavigation of the island on trail 1). I am willing to make it up to the work weekend crew at the end of the summer in a small way with a fine Colombian care package via Johnnie, if I learn how many are expected in advance and don't learn about attendees next summer in the old log. Thanks to all of you that so generously make the time.

Last thing: there will be an August 12 vote by Monhegan ratepayers and taxpayers on whether or not Monhegan Plantation Power District should continue on to the permitting and financing phase of the wind power project. One vote will be allotted to each household. Seems like a no brainer to me, but surely there are valuable counter-opinions. More information can be found at http://www.monheganpower.com/windpower/faq.html

Love to all from back in Bogota,
Than
