2009 scheduling

Here is a the synopsis of the 2009 scheduling process.

Who gets to choose in what order:

1. Shaws

2. Wareham Barkers

3. Hombergs

4. Cleveland Barkers

3/15 deadline for ROUND 1 in which two weeks may be chosen by each quarter
4/15 latest for ROUND 2 to start-one more week from each quarter may be chosen
5/1 I will send out the schedule as it is. At this point anyone may contact me, not just the quarter's representative.

I look forward to getting lots of cousins scheduled for this summer!

work week 2008 photos

I thought I would share a few photos from the highly successful 2008 work week. It was my first time attending, and I would recommend this to any family member, even if you aren't a skilled carpenter. Those who are will put you to work!

As you can see, they got me hanging shingles, too, and we even took a dinner break for a family lobster dinner (complete with hypnosis by the doctor). I hope we'll have more family members try this out in the future-a great way to get some work done (for a lot less) and get to know family members better.

New Roof

I just received guestimate from Doug Boynton for Upper House roof replacement ( over 30 yrs old; crumbling and patched leak): $10,000. Plan is to get several estimates from off island crews this spring..and move ahead with job this summer. Any family contractors interested in putting in bid which might be a bit lower?? Bob Holmberg

Welcome!

Hello to all of you in the big Barker family!

So I figured it was finally time to prove to my dad that making a blog for Monhegan is really not that hard. For all of you that are much more savvy at web design, forgive me, but I wanted to get something going as an online platform so that we can all share news and information, photos and more in an easy way. I will be back soon with more about the organization of content, etc...
